ERP Infrastructure

    The problem
In the client’s view, changing IT infrastructure did not mean abandoning existing methodologies and management. Instead, the idea was to improve them and apply them to the new context. Therefore, the objectives to reach were to maintain reliability equal to that of the mainframe and to operate in an international and dynamic environments.

     Benefits
  • Single point of contact for the development of the infrastructure
  • Implementation of processes and standard solutions
  • Personnel training on the actual platform

The history of our client begins in 1920 when Victor Zucchi founded his linens company. Always keeping up with new trends and the market thanks to his entrepreneurial spirit, Zucchi’s company embraced new sectors of production and identified new supply sources for raw materials (threads) and semi finished goods (textiles).
The Zucchi group can boast using avant garde technical equipment that allows it to produce and distribute its products to thousands of sales points on top of the group’s own 367 stores and factory outlets.

ZucchiImage.jpg In spite of the ever attention to evolution, IT caught up with the company.  The context in which Integra operated was one of transition from a mainframe to an open platform. Once the client identified the ERP system (JD Edwards by Oracle-PeopleSoft), best adapted to his needs, he found himself busy in converting his HR, with vast experience in S390, to operate in an infrastructure based on AIX and Windows 2000.

    Solution

High Availability (HACMP) with a storage configuration at the enterprise level, usable through a storage area network was the preferred choice when developing the infrastructure. Finally, a centralized backup system for heterogeneous platforms was developed so as to standardize operations.
The choice and dimension of components was agreed with the client, based on analyses carried out by those responsible for the applications. Management procedures were implemented following standard methodology so as to gain expertise in the new platform.

The entire system’s performance was taken into account during the development phase and technical solutions that would not overload the LAN during back up procedures were found. The parameters of the operating system were regularly fine tuned, and therefore the access to resources was adapted to the actual use.

Integra was chosen so that the client would not have to worry about the infrastructure and could dedicate himself to the implementation of ERP. The end result was that the client was operational faster and with the minimum loss of energy.
